Proxy Authentication Errors

Q: Why am I getting a “407 Proxy Authentication Required” error?

A: Your proxy server is asking for authentication credentials, but it sounds like these aren’t being sent correctly by your client or browser.

Possible Solutions A 407 error indicates an authentication problem. The easiest way to fix this is to add your IP to the proxy, e.g., if your proxy service has a dashboard.

A 407 error can also indicate an incorrect password. Check your password for accuracy or consider authenticating your IP to the proxy instead of using the username:password method. If you’ve already added your IP, then ensure you have removed the username & password authentication.

Check your username and password in the proxy settings. If you use cURL, try connecting with a simple test command like: curl -x http://user:pass@proxy.example.com:3128 https://example.com

If that works, the issue is with your app configuration. If you’re coding, make sure your HTTP client library supports proxy authentication. Test with a proxy that doesn’t require authentication (for debugging only).
